ANSWER: As reader Adrienne guessed right off the bat, these is indeed the potato pancakes with smoked salmon and caviar appetizer from Cafe Polonia. So tasty and only $6!
I was very sad to see in the comment section that the restaurant will apparently be closing. My wife and I hope to get there for what we call "Pierogi Night," sung to the disco tune "Lady's Night," before they shut their doors for good.
Sad, too, because Salem has so much Polish heritage. Are there other restaurants in Salem that serve Polish food?

Just talked to them and they said the business has been sold but the Boston location will remain open. Hurry in and try GREAT food before they leave town for good (or bad). Big food loss for Salem! Very sad!

I know....they were a nice addition to the Salem Restaurant scene. I know many people are sorry to see them leave. Good food, nice employees and atmosphere. I drove by this pm and saw lights over there, so wasn't sure what's going on. Anyway, those DO look like their potato pancakes....platski (however you spell that) which were very good!

Why are they closing if the restaurant is so popular? It's not fair! Is there something else going on behind the scenes?
