Well get the point that when we have a heavy rain at high tide it floods ,Filled land ,basically at sea level . Get use to it ,with the sea rising it will happen often .No pumps or tides gates will work . Build embankments around the homes ,that will work for a few years .

So glad that the residents on Becket Street endured the last few months of living in a dusty, loud, construction zone with spotty resident parking so that Forrester would see relief from this kind of flooding. So what WERE they doing under Becket Street all this time?

did any houses or cars get inundated this time or was it just a street flood?
was it caused by water backing up through the rain water system or did the rain just overwhelm the system?

Good question Diane and they are not done yet. I live on Forrester and drove several times down Becket. I saw how close the work was to people's homes and thought to myself we owe these people a debt of gratitude. We got a lot of dust, noise and shaking here too. The City put off for way too long doing this project. You would not want to know what was flooding into peoples cellars here. So thank you for putting up with all of it. My final comment is just wait until the National Grid project starts on Derby and Forrester. Becket St. will look like a cake walk. We need to convince the powers that be to use an under the harbor approach which IS doable. Talk with your neighbors and friends/business' on Derby and Forrester about it.

Sea level rising because of global warming; as Windpower says, we will have to get used to it. Short term -- not sure what we can do. Long term? Use more public transport, walk more, use LESS fossil fuel and more renewables to try to fix the problem. But no. We just complaing

I think the Becket Street drain isn't in service yet. I believe it's supposed to drain those waters out once completed. You'd have to check with the Engineering office to be sure, though - I'm not authoritative on that.
