Flying Saucer Will Land at Upper Crust

The Gulu Gulu Cafe family has some big plans for Upper Crust's old space.

If you were a fan of the Upper Crust, , we have some good news.

If you're also fan of the , we have even better news.

The Gulu family has plans to bring pizza back to Upper Crust with the Flying Saucer Pizza Company, a brand new gourmet pizza place scheduled to land by the summer.

"I'm stoked," said Steve Feldmann, owner of the Gulu Cafe and the forthcoming Flyer Saucer.

Though it was "the last thing" he thought he'd be doing (he recently welcomed a baby girl with his wife), Feldmann said the space opened up and the landlord, RCG, was supportive of his plan.

Feldmann and his team are currently renovating the space, which will feature a small bar in addition to the seating area as well as patio seating. If all goes well, Feldmann hopes to open the new restaurant by the start of summer.

As for the theme, Feldmann said patrons will enjoy their pies in a 60s sci-fi themed eatery.

"Pizza pans remind me of flying saucers," he said.  After some brainstorming and inspiration from old Ed Wood movies, Feldmann said the name Flying Saucer Pizza Company was born.

And even though Flying Saucer will be its own restaurant with its own motif, Feldmann said like the Gulu, the Flying Saucer will have its own canine influence. Charlie, his beloved pug, will make an appearance as an honorary mascot. Jack Feldmann, the family's Boston Terrier is honorary mascot of the Gulu.

So if you loved Upper Crust, like Gulu and are a sci-fi fan, consider yourself abducted.
