Members of the Salem Fire Department extinguished a raging vehicle fire on Fort Avenue Monday afternoon.
At 3:19 p.m., police and fire units responded to 178 Fort Ave. after receiving word that a red Jeep Cherokee had caught on fire.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they reportedly found the passenger side of the vehicle engulfed in flames and quickly knocked down the fire.
Deputy Fire Chief Gerry Giunta said the cause of the fire is believed to have been electrical in nature.
This fire is unrelated to two suspicious fires set in Salem Monday night.

My daughter drove by on the school bus when it was completely up in flames and fire trucks just arrived. Glad to find out no one was in the jeep.

why would a loaded school bus drive by a burning vehicle? There is an eminate danger of an explosion that could of injured the children. Isn't there a protcol for this, lacking any common sense?
