UPDATED: Explore Your City with a Book and Green Pumpkins

Welcome to "About Town," your guide to all that you need to know and all the juicy tidbits you may have missed.

A Walk Through Salem

I'm looking forward to diving headfirst into Chris Dowgin's lusciously illustrated "A Walk Through Salem." Not only can I read the story, I can become a part of it by following Mr. Zac's footsteps around town. Pick up a copy today at Coven and see for yourself what magic this story holds.

Drink Up

Join the team behind Red White Boston, a new IPhone App that connects you with your closest wine shop and their top picks. This Wednesday night 62 Restaurant and Wine Bar makes the cut with their weekly Bread, Salt, Wine series. From 5 to 7 p.m., enjoy complimentary items from their sputini menu with the purchase of a glass of wine.  The folks from Red White Boston will also be on hand to teach you all about their app and the contents of your glass.

In Need of a Marriage Ref?

Are you and your spouse going through a rough spell? Feel the need to broadcast your troubles on national television? NBC's "The Marriage Ref" is coming to town to hold open auditions in search of "outspoken" and "opinionated couples." Auditions will be held on Salem Common 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 20 to 23. For complete information visit the NBC website.

Help Find Frankie

Check out Frankensteins Art Facebook Page this morning at 9 a.m. for a clue to the "Find a Green Frankie" contest. Clues will be announced daily, and those that find the green pumpkin with a Frankie face will be rewarded with a craft item from the party section at Frankenstein Art. A little tip, we heard that the clue will bring you to a location in Danvers Tuesday.

Be sure to check out the newest edition to the Patch family while you're at it — Editor John Castelluccio celebrated the launch of DanversPatch at 12:01 a.m.!

Try Some Green Tea

A new class series starts at Alicia Diozzi's Green Tea Yoga on November 3. This class is specifically designed for beginners, or for those that enjoy "gentle" yoga. The class will meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 - 7:15 p.m. and explore basic yoga poses and how to safely execute them. For more information, or to sign up, visit the Green Tea Yoga Web site.

Saturday Shopping

This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., stop by Thomson's Garden Center for some mums and a giant flea market! You will find collectibles, crafts from local artisans, and free Halloween decorations. During the market, if you purchase any merchandise from Thomson's, they will donate 10% of the purchase price to a Salem Elementary or Middle School of your choice. See you there!
