Deer Blamed for Salem Crash

A local deer was reportedly responsible for a car accident on Marlborough Road Sunday.

A daredevil deer was to blame for an early-morning car accident in Salem on Sunday.

At 1:01 a.m., local police officers responded to a minor motor vehicle accident involving a 2006 Toyota Scion and a deer on Marlborough Road.

A woman told responding officers that she was driving into Salem from Peabody when she noticed a group of five deer on the side of the road - then "all of a sudden a sixth deer ran across the road from the left and collided with the front end of her motor vehicle," according to an excerpt from this morning's police log.

The woman's car suffered damage to the left front quarter panel, driver's side door and front bumper. Responding officers reportedly found hair from the deer still caught in the vehicle's front end and advised the woman to contact her insurance company.

The woman was uninjured in the accident and the deer ran off into the woods.

Have you seen any deer on the side of the road in this part of Salem? How about somewhere else in the city?
