Geographically, per your MapQuest link, gene has a "Point". Coinicentally I just learned something from my Performance and Career Enhancement newsletter, honoring National Hispanic Awareness Month last Sep-Oct : "Hispanic is not a racial identification. Hispanic is more of a regional identification like sahing "North American." What is a Hispanic? Hispanics come in all sizes and shapes. There are Jewish, Arab, Asian, Indian, and White Hispanics as well as brown. .... The Spanish explorers were mostly soldiers and priests. [They did not bring families with them like the English settlers did.] As a result, the soldiers intermarried with the native women from the countries they explored." -from the Diversity Council.
