This month the Salem Theatre Company presents "The Long Christmas Ride Home." Feedback for the show on Facebook has been amazing, and it only opened last night! This Sunday at 3 p.m., they are offering a special promotion, "Pay What You Will." Pay only what you are able or willing to on Sunday to see the show. A great way to take in some theatre if holiday shopping has you strapped for cash.

Cool Deal

The Northshore Magazine is running a special holiday deal; $10 for a one year subscription to their magazine. This magazine covers happenings in Salem as well as the Northshore as a whole. The promotion says that you can purchase a subscription for yourself or as a gift for only $10. Cool idea!

Shop Till You Drop

On Dec. 9, shops on Washington Street and Church Street are getting together to put on a Holiday Shopping Event for you. Treats, discounts, prizes and more will be handed out to shoppers. Do you have a sweet tooth like me? Harbor Sweets is also hosting a holiday extravaganza. Friday through Sunday, stop by their shop for special deals and all kinds of tasty treats. I love their jarred ice cream toppings; hot fudge is my favorite. Their decorative boxes of Sweet Sloops are no-brainer gift ideas as well.

Sitters

Here is a great gift idea for a teen — enroll them in the Babysitting Course on Dec. 28. Let them start their own mini-business and take on some responsibility at the same time. The course is $45 and you can sign up through the Salem Park, Recreation & Community Services Department.

It's Time for Hanukkah!

On the fifth night of Hanukkah, Dec. 5, a Hadassah Hanukkah Potuluck Brunch is being held in Swampscott. Your entry fee is a holiday treat to share and a wrapped gift for the gift exchange that has a $10 or less price point. Go to enjoy Latkes, blintzes, kugels and more, and spend some time getting to know new friends.
