Caps Off to Salem State Grad Students

SSU grad students move on; Deval Patrick, Elaine S. Marks, Ralph Kaplan honored with Doctor of Humane Letters degrees.

Congratulations to the Graduate students Class of 2011.

students, friends and family gathered at the O'Keefe Center Thursday afternoon to celebrate the milestone with Gov. Deval Patrick, who delivered the keynote address.

Patrick shared his story of life growing up in Chicago and his journey as the first in his family to attend college. He advised graduates to remember sacrifice and those who helped them to reach graduation day.

The governor encouraged graduates to "stay in Massachusetts" and help others find success.

In addition to Patrick, two others — Elaine S. Marks and Ralph Kaplan — were honored with Doctor of Humane Letters degrees.
