This has to be the corner of Washington and Essex; the lady in white on the left is just about where the Samantha's Bewitched Statue is.

It sort of looks like the corner of Essex and Washington - taken from in front of the Daniel Lowes Building looking across Washington and toward Laura Lane's, Harrison's etc.

Town House Square facing southwest from the corner of Daniel Lowe's. Wonder what year the office building down the street on the right before you get to Bowman's was built.

Essex and Washington...army barracks now at the corner. I can see he building I live in...pretty wild. Also, Essex doesn't look like it was a one-way back then!

Looks like a view of Washington St. from the Essex St. intersection (Town House Sq.) taken in the late 60's or very early '70s before the pedestrian mall was built.

I'm guessing the bicycle rider is exiting Norman Street onto Washington St. The TR Kerr furniture store later became National House Furniture.

This charming view of Essex street and Washington is just an attempt to divert us from the real issues. Here we go again, divert attention away from the failed policies of the Obama and Driscoll administrations and the democratically controlled everything that will not even vote on the million draconianly brilliant ideas that *I* have had before it that would have us well on the way to recovery!
Are they truly incompetent, or are these crypto-socialists tring to bankrupt this quasi-fascist democracy and take our god given right to ad nauseam online ranting? I think NOT! [wink wink]

That was my beloved grandfather, Theodore Raymond Kerr's furniture store. When I was a young girl, he put a little girls fairy tale, draped canopied white bedroom set in one of the showcase windows. He had wrapped a big pink bow all around it and wished me a Happy Birthday. What wonderful memories! He was such a great man and held the prominent position of three generations past as a furniture entrepreneur here in Salem. We sold the building after he passed away in 1972 and the rest is corner block of Essex and Washington St. condo history! Thank you so much for this beautiful photo, it has sparked a lovely memory snapshot of a lifetime for me! Lisa Connolly.
