The Salem Police responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Monday and Tuesday.

Monday, June 5

5:44 p.m. — Kids playing basketball and threatening a resident were reported on Lafayette Street. Police said officers weren't able to find anything and the reporting party did not come forward.

5:52 p.m. — A metal plate on Essex Street making noise was reported.

6:37 p.m. — Harassing phone calls were reported on Fort Avenue. A woman told police a woman keeps calling about alleged money owed to a mutual acquaintance. The woman said there were threats made to beat her up.

7:42 p.m. — A possible homeless dog was reported on Webb Street. Police said the dog was reunited with its owner.

8:03 p.m. — Police said a dead seal on the beach was reported on Clifton Avenue, but officers were not able to locate it.

8:11 p.m. — A caller reported suspicious kids in the park on High Street. The caller told police his son was playing on the playground when a boy ran up and pulled his son's pants down. Police said when the father tried to speak with the boy, the boy gave him attitude. When the father told the boy he was going to call the police, police said the boy told him: "Go ahead." The boy was brought to the station and his mother was called to come down.

9:58 p.m. — A man fully clothed in a pool in the rain was reported at 190 Bridge St. (Jefferson at Salem Station Apartments). Police spoke to a man who was found in the pool area. Police said he was a resident and provided a valid ID. Police said the man was allowed to continue his swim.

10:26 p.m. — Police said a car went into a pole at Summer and Endicott streets.

Tuesday, June 5

12:27 a.m. — A disabled vehicle in a puddle at Boston and Bridge streets was reported.

12:44 a.m. — Police notified DPW that Bridge Street was impassable.

6:21 a.m. — A small dinghy on the beach was reported on Fort Avenue. The Harbormaster was notified.

10:47 a.m. — Police said a stolen scooter was reported on Daniels Street.

11:24 a.m. — A dispute with a customer was reported at U-Haul of Salem.

1:29 p.m. — Larceny of money was reported on Congress Street.

2:01 p.m. — A person asking for money was reported on Essex Street.

2:07 p.m. — Dogs running loose were reported on Leavitt Street

3:21 p.m. — A man with a metal detector was reported on Salem Common.

Tuesday Arrests

Chance E. Parent, 39, of 16 Red Rock St., in Lynn ,was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle after a license suspension.

John Paul Bastian, 54, of 116 Lafayette St., was arrested on charges of breaking and entering at night with intent to commit a crime, larceny of property $250 or over and malicious destruction of property.
