Witch Doctor Glass Shop Thriving in Downtown Salem
Here's a virtual tour around The Witch Doctor glass shop on Lafayette Street in Salem.
The Witch Dr. Blowing Studio and Artisan Gallery on Lafayette Street in Salem is a truly unique local business.
It is one of the few places in New England where customers looking for glass pipes, bubblers and smoking accessories can browse through the items the shop offers while watching new pieces being hand-crafted in the rear of the shop.
It's been almost a year since 'The Witch DR.' opened its doors in Salem and co-owner Derek Arnold said business has been brisk.
"We've experienced healthy growth," Arnold said Thursday. "It's been great."
All of the shop's glass products are crafted in the United States and in addition to glass items, the Witch Dr. also showcases a wide variety of locally-created artwork.
The shop is open every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and you must be 18 to enter.
Click on the video attached to this post for a virtual tour of the inside of the shop and for a closer look at how the shop's co-owner and glass-blower, P.C. Nicolosi, hand-makes and repairs many of the pipes they sell.

I did not know the Witch Dr. showcases a variety of locally-created artworks! I have not seen any advertisements for art openings or receptions for the artists. I'm so glad Salem hosts such a rich art and cultural scene, and look forward to catching another art reception soon.

Great place, good folks. Local artists show and sell paintings and photographs with new shows about monthly.
I'm happy to be a regular visitor.

It's a bizarre shop, in that there is some really fine glass work in there, but its orientation is mostly akin to a head shop. Still, there is a glass blowing studio and if you can get past the particular utilitarian aspect of the pieces, it's worth seeing. I'd like to see more effort to branch out in the kind of glasswork it exhibits.

This is such an amazing shop. The glass, art, and people are second to none! Salem gained something special when Witch Dr. Moved in (and rejuvinated that unsightly closed bar space 'casa blanca') :)

Nice, a bong shop. Who remembers Leatherhead in Pickering Wharf. Now you can have an entire store dedicated to drug paraphernalia. Will they start selling little spoons attached to tiny bottles? I miss the seventies! Next time I need a new three foot bong or a new "bubbler", I now know where to go.

Looks like a cool place, can't wait 2 visit! Of course, this kind of art wil always be demonized by some with words like " drug paraphenailia." Such a negative nancy, drew. I believe they are used for smoking tobacco or marijuana, this sort of glasswork is not sufficient for smoking crack or meth, so I don't really consider them drug paraohenalia. See you in july!

It is absolutely hilarious to see people investing so much time, money and energy into something that is illegal for any purpose under the Controlled Substances Act and the Mail Order Act. The D.E.A. even said on camera to T.V. news stations during press about Operation Pipe Dreams that calling it "gallery art" will not matter to them and that he felt it hard to believe an art gallery owner would that stupid to stock marijuana pipes and bongs.
