A Look Around Salem's New iTaco

It's been about three months since Salem's new iTaco opened at the Museum Place Mall.

The space inside the Museum Place Mall that you probably remember as The Daily Bagel Cafe is now an iTaco, a Mexican restaurant offering customers free Wi-Fi and authentic Mexican cuisine.

When we stopped by Monday morning, General Manager Sergio Corona was hard at work behind the counter, dishing out batches of nachos and fish tacos to holiday shoppers, some of whom were venturing into his new space for the first time.

"Business has been going good," Corona said, adding that a lot has changed since his iTaco first opened just before Halloween.

The restaurant's new sign has been installed where The Daily Bagel Cafe sign once hung, patrons can now enjoy free Wi-Fi and breakfast has been added to the menu.

The other iTaco location in Rockport has officially been closed for the season, Corona said.

According to the business' Facebook page, marquee menu items include salsa hot dogs, breakfast burritos, shrimp tacos, fish tacos and chicken soup.

The guacamole is made to order and the prices are great. A fine addition to the mall.

Been there once so far, with my son. The nachos were scary (like ballpark nachos with better salsa), but the tacos were very good indeed.

I'm downtown all the time and I would have never know this place existed.

Honestly, they need to do deliveries to be more competitive.

I ordered takeout one time and enjoyed it.

One thing bothered me though. A woman that was cooking attempted to take my order and was very polite ( there was a language barrier) but I noticed what I believe was an owner (female) hovering around this girl every time I began to talk to her. She took over the order process for the employee. But she seemed paranoid when I went near the counter to watch the girl prepare my food. It made me uncomfortable and actually seemed a bit intrusive. While the woman ( the one that seemed to be in charge) was pleasant ( to me ) I got the sense that she was very guarded and it threw me off quite a bit.
But as far as the food went it was a pretty good taco.
