6 Things to Do This Weekend

Some picks for weekend entertainment in the Witch City.

It's the weekend — time to get out and enjoy everything Salem has to offer.

Like last weekend, we're fortunate to have even more events than usual — Heritage Days will continue through Monday, Aug. 15.

Friday, Aug. 12

Get Bouncing — Kids will have a blast at Kids Night from 5 p.m on to 7 p.m. on Salem Common. Join the Salem YMCA to explore a kingdom built for kiddos, complete with moon bounces, games and rides. The price is $3, and you'll be able to ride as much as you want.

Saturday, Aug. 13

Get CraftyThe Essex Street Fair will showcase anything you could ever hope to find in the way of unique Salem gifts and entertainment. Check out the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall for jewelry, crafts, face painters and musicians. Be sure to connect with the Salem Chamber of Commerce, which is organizing the event, for more information.

Enjoy Some "Fame"Salem Sound Coastwatch (SSCW) is holding its final eco-cruise of the season on the Schooner FAME from noon to 1:45 p.m. Enjoy everything Salem Sound — from great views to rich wildlife. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit SSCW. Visit salemsound.org for more.

Mangia! — It's time to celebrate Caffe Graziani's 20th! Head to the Washington Street restaurant from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. for a Festa Italiana. Expect great music, food and even a spaghetti eating contest. Do you have what it takes to win?

Sunday, Aug. 14

To the Dogs — Be sure to check out this first at Heritage Days. The Pet Fair & Dog Show will showcase pets and pet exhibitors on Salem Common from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pet lovers, this is definitely one you won't want to miss!

Get Racing — Get ready, get set, go! Kiddos from all over the Northeast will test their endurance in the Wild Fish One and Two Mile Endurance swims at Collins Cove Beach. Registration opens at 10 a.m. and the race starts at 11:30 a.m.
