10 Lucky Bets for St. Patrick's Day

Here are just some of the events planned for St. Patrick's Day; add your own in the comments and celebrate Salem's Irish heritage.

 

It's the weekend, time to get out and enjoy everything Salem has to offer.

The Irish flag is flying high in Riley Plaza, so be sure to celebrate Salem's Irish Heritage with some great St. Patrick's Day activities.

Whether you're looking to imbibe (responsibly, please), or you're in the mood for some traditional Irish fare (or both), we have you covered.

These are just some  of the great festivites planned. You can bet everyone will be open. If we missed a St. Patrick's Day hot spot or event, be sure to add it in the comments.

Cafe Polonia — This Polish eatery in Lappin Park will be celebrating the luck of the Irish one day early with OUT Night: LBGT St. Patrick's Day. Salem Out Loud and the The Dejas will be there. Bar specials and special sangrias are being prepped now for the event. Click here for more.

Saturday, St. Patrick's Day

St. Thomas the Apostle/Knights of Columbus — St. Thomas the Apostle will hold its annual St. Patrick's Day celebration at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Salem at 6 p.m. You're guaranteed entertainment, and transportation is available. Click here for more.

O'Neill's — In addition to offering you Irish food and drink, this Irish mainstay will also be offering you some athletic competition on St. Patrick's Day. At 1 p.m. check out some feisty rugby chops as O'Neill's broadcasts the game between England and Ireland live from Twickenham Stadium.

Colonial Hall at Rockafellas — Get back to your Irish roots with a traditional corn beef and cabbage dinner for $35 per person. After that, enjoy a comedy show after your meal. Learn more here.

Rockafellas — Downstairs from Colonial Hall, there are festive options all day. John Corcoran's band will be playing from 2 to 8 p.m., and there will be Irish step dancing. At 9 p.m., the tunes will be turned over to DJ Scotty Mac for an Irish Dance Party. The Lisa Love Experience will also be making an appearance.

Hawthorne Hotel — If you're looking to satisfy your palate, The Hawthorne Hotel has quite a few options including the Irish Eyes Martini, potato and leek soup and Irish pub style fish and chips. Be sure to check out their menu attached to this article.

The Tin Whistle — Check out this local pub favorite. Head on over for a Murphy's Irish Stout and Magners (one of your editor's favorites — try it on ice) or a shot of Jameson. The Tin Whistle will also be offering corned beef and cabbage all day.

FINZ — Be sure to head on over to FINZ for "The Biggest St. Patrick's Day Party EVER." Enjoy some hearty Guiness and live music from Conor Shanahan and Friends from 8 p.m. to midnight. Learn more here.

Vic's Station — Enjoy prizes and giveaways as well as Irish inspired food and drink. The Jackleg Preachers will be heading the musical entertainment for the night. More information can be found here.

Capt's — In you think the traditional pairing of corned beef and cabbage is the way you want to go on Saturday, Capt's has you covered. Just be sure to make reservations ASAP to snag a space.
